Day to day running of our classes would not occur
without the generosity of horse handlers and sidewalkers. These volunteers sign up for the job of interacting with our
horses and clients. They must go through a Volunteer Training, which includes demonstrations with the horses, information
on disablities that you may encounter, reading our Volunteer Training Manual, practicing various riders holds, and practicing
grooming, saddling, and leading the horses. This is an important step in providing consistency in our program so that our
clients and horses may thrive, as well as our volunteers.
We request that you contact us by phone or email
that you are coming to a training so we can know how many people to expect. Thank you.
Volunteer
Training Day
February 25th at 1:00 pm at the
Ranch
This training usually lasts about 1.5
to 2 hrs and we learn about side walking and horse handling. We learn about saddling the horses and get a chance to practice
leading the therapy horses to get used to the animals.
We require that volunteers are trained yearly so that they are informed of any changes to our program and horses.
If you cannot attend this training, please give Janice a call and set up an alternate time throughout the year to train.
